Paolo Calza is the manager of the Additive Design and Technologies Sub-section in the Advanced Technology Organization of Avio Aero. Team mission is to provide support and leadership for the Additive technology proper usage and spreading. Specifically, main activities are linked to:

• Operate the Turin Additive Laboratory (GE Aerospace European Qualified Lean Lab)

• Lead the MRL maturation & Industrialization process for the requested Additive Manufacturing Parts

• Explore additive design opportunities to improve product CTQs

• Lead NTI activities linked to the requested Additive technologies enhancements

Paolo attained a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Padua in 2003 and achieved there his PhD in Aeroelasticity in Turbomachinery in 2005. During the last year of his PhD, he spent eight months at the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre for Vibration (VUTC) of the Imperial College of London.

He joined the Turbine Module Department of Avio Aero in 2006 being involved in several development programs. He was responsible for several European (including FUTURE and DREAM) and National technology programs (MIUR, G2020, …). From 2008 to 2013 he was also involved as LPT technical leader in the SAGE2 platform of CLEAN-SKY. From May 2013 to July 2018 he led the System Design Technologies sub-section dealing with coordination of several technology maturation programs, field investigations and new program introduction for the dynamics and aeromechanics technical areas. In this role he also managed lots of initiatives and research labs with several University and Research centers.

He is member of several design boards and committees within the GE corporate. He also participated as evaluator of several projects replying Clean Sky platform call for proposal.
